UK heavy metal band Fury challenges any Queen fans among their audience to find all twenty five lyrical references to the legendary regal band in their bouncing new track ‘We Will Sing’. The new lyric video (created by Cloud Music Typography) can help you identify many of these nods to Freddie Mercury and his work.
Fury Vocalist Julian Jenkins explains his inspiration:
“I’m sure it comes as no surprise that Freddie has always been a massive inspiration to me, as a musician, a songwriter and of course as a singer and a front man. I was always in awe of his vocal prowess, both in range and tone and have spent many an hour singing along with Queen songs trying to absorb as much as I could in an effort to strengthen my own voice. And then there’s the live performances, Queen’s set at Live Aid is the most electrifying live performance I’ve ever seen (on video, as regrettably I was minus 2 years old at the time), and despite only being something like 25 minutes long, has to go down as one of the greatest live performances ever. So I wanted to write a song in tribute to Freddie and Queen in an attempt to say thank you and to try and encapsulate some of that electricity and magic that made them so special.”
‘We Will Sing’ is the strutting, uplifting anthem of the band’s latest album ‘The Grand Prize’, released on the 2nd of April 2020. Despite the international lock down causing great concern across the music industry, Fury have soldiered on to bring out an exciting new album and an array of merchandise for existing and new fans, which have landed through people’s letterboxes all over the world. Although the possibility of more tour postponements loom, the band are determined to get their fresh, new-new-wave of British heavy metal out to the music lovers everywhere.
