In the bustling surroundings of Stoke On Trent, a band of warriors reside. They are WARLOCK A.D. and they have announced the second tale of their adventures is on it’s way to us. It is titled Book II: The Valley Of Vâgené and to give us a taster of what’s to come on this epic quest, they have released the title track as their first single.
I first immersed into the world of WARLOCK A.D. last year when their released their debut album Book I: The Reserrection. It did take me a little while to get used to their sound at first when listening to that record. From the first few notes of The Valley Of Vâgené, I already noticed a significant improvement; the melody is bold and gallant, it lets you know what you are in for. It’s not quite as messy, it’s a lot cleaner and you already feel like you are on an epic quest.
The criticism I had last time that sometimes the vocals can sometimes get lost within the music, that could have been down to production or my experienced ears going deaf. This time the vocals can be heard a lot more clearly, it makes me glad I stuck around to see how their sound developed since their debut.
It’s one of those songs that you only need to read the song title to get it stuck in your head for days after listening to this. If the rest of the songs sound as majestic as this in the rest of the album, it will be a most grand adventure.
