NEWS: California Shoegazers BETHANY CURVE Return From 15-Year Hiatus | “Frontier” Digital Single – Out Now

Atmospheric shoegaze group Bethany Curve have returned with their first record since 2003’s Flaxen. “Frontier” is a signature slice of the sound that the Santa Cruz, CA, band sum up in their motto Atmosphere | Arrangement | Sound | Layering | Noise. Shimmering guitars reverberate around each other and wash over the listener throughout “Frontier”, while vocalist Lisa Dewey takes time to meditate on the laconic lyrics.

“Hold your ground when they come,

Raise your hand, bring them down,

So all my strength inside,

Feels the knife, takes one life,

Waste no time, build your life,

Leave behind all their lives”

Bethany Curve’s rich ambient soundscapes find themselves a rightful place in the shoegaze/dream pop lineage that began with Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine, and those that have followed in the 2010’s, like Cigarettes After Sex and Alvvays. While 15 years have passed since the band’s last release, it is clear from “Frontier” that the group have not missed a step.

In the time since their 2003 hiatus began Bethany Curve have gained acknowledgement as important players in the development of the United States’ shoegaze scene . Manufactured Recordings have reissued the band’s debut LP Mee-Eaux on CD and cassette, Cherry Red featured the group on their box set Still In A Dream: A Story Of Shoegaze 1988-1995, and Dewdrops Records invited them to contribute to their compilation Half Gifts: A Tribute To The Cocteau Twins.

Bethany Curve fans can look forward to the release of Bethany Curve’s Murder! album on CD, digital and limited edition double vinyl in early 2018.
