Summer is slowly coming to an end and the festival season is shortly closing. Having said this, some of our readers and musicians came forward to tell Rock Out Stand Out what songs reminded them off summer days. In fact, there were so many responses that this post will be split in two. Without further ado, here are the first batch of choices. Spotify playlist to follow shortly.
James Norkett (The Wicked Jackals)
For me, it’s that Will Smith song, Summertime.

If I were to pick songs that remind me of summer time, I would say either Pack Up by Eliza Dolittle or Shine by Take That. Those songs always remind me of summer holidays.
Jodie Bowie (JodieBowie Promotions)
Summertime Girls by Y&T, probably something by Motely Crue as they are a summery band so maybe Same Old Situation.
Jenna L
Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden because they played it while the sun went down when I was at Hellfest in 2014 or Hotel California because it’s epic!!
David Roux (The Outlaw Orchestra)
Just Like Paradise by David Lee Roth. I love that song, that is summer time. Although, on my first date with my girlfriend I had a 323 Mazda that looked like Wayne and Garth’s car off Wayne’s World. I had tie die jeans on, low rise waist, KISS crop top, got in the car and put on cassette Foreigner’s Unusual Heat. I had the fan on in my hair as the song played. I then took her down to Highcliffe to a coffee shop. So Unusual Heat and Just Like Paradise remind me of summer.

I don’t usually like summertime but if I were to pick a summer song, I would say Airbourne’s Live It Up. It reminds me of sitting in the garden on a summers day drinking a cold beer.
Joacim Cans (Hammerfall)
I have lots of songs that remind me of winter but summer that’s different. I think in general in the summer time, you’re drinking and the sun is shining it has to be a happy song. A classic song from back in the eighties, where I grew up and where there is a lot of nostalgia. I would say Paradise City from Guns N’ Roses. That makes me want to party.
Jordan Watts (27 Days)
For me it’s the iconic Paradise City.
Jacob McCrone (Rock Out Stand Out)
It just reminds me of dancing around at Bloodstock a few years ago. Associate it with friends, good bands and good drink. Miracle Of Sound’s song Gráinne Mhaol, Queen Of Pirates.
Lex Gifford (The Wicked Jackals)
For me it has to be Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams.
So here is the first lot of Reader’s Choices. Stay tuned for the second half.
