Today is Mental Health Awareness Day and here on Rock Out Stand Out, we will be honouring this day. As you may have noticed, there are some stories that are being shared and there is a playlist to help honour this day.

This playlist includes songs by artists who sadly lost their lives to mental illness. These artists include Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Jill Janus, Avicii and Keith Flint. Rest in peace to these talented artists and to anyone else who lost their life to suicide.

In amongst the dark and bleak, we need a beacon of hope. The Rock Out Stand team have chosen some songs that either help them feel motivated or to match how they feel when going through a bad patch with mental illness. Artists amongst these include Edguy, Kissin’ Dynamite, Of Mice And Men, Motionless In White, Control The Storm and several others.

There are two charity songs on the list too:

Black Sheets Of Rain’s Weight Of Shadows talks about the effects of depression and it also lets you know not to give up. Proceeds for this single go towards Ian’s Chain, a charity that helps those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

The Parasitic Twins did a Hardcore cover of the nineties classic Spaceman. Proceeds from this single go towards CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), this charity provide listening services, information and support for men at risk of suicide.

I hope you enjoy this playlist, stay well and remember you are not alone.
