Birmingham’s own heavy metal stalwarts Dakesis have announced a new affordable live stream and pre-record service aimed at unsigned, DIY and Independent musicians and artists to help combat the hardships facing live music performers during the current global pandemic. Running from their rehearsal and recording studio CapsaArx studios in Kings Norton, South Birmingham, the pilot shows have been incredibly well received, and they are now ready to open up their stage to others.
Co Director Amie says “We’ve built CapsaArx services over the years founded on the idea that we want to empower independent and DIY grassroots musicians to showcase themselves as much as possible without breaking the bank. When the global pandemic hit, we were devastated at having to cancel our own shows and tours so we’ve launched our new livestream and pre-record service to help bands connect with their fans and community and help the music scene feel alive again. We’re a service dedicated to musicians, run by musicians and we’re excited and very thankful that we are able to help bands in whatever way we can.”
The whole thing was born of the bands own “DIY or die” approach to the music industry, Dakesis vocalist and now videographer Gemma says “It took us a while to figure out the set-up, we originally put it together to facilitate our own album launch, but as soon as our friends saw it we were inundated with interest in using the service themselves – and we thought the best way to do that was to learn the ropes ourselves and offer a fully fleshed out service for musicians, by musicians!”
Rites To Ruin Bassist Paul, who recently used the service says “A band is not a band until it has played a show. Until that point a band is a bunch of people who happen to play instruments together. Recording our set at CapsaArx enabled us to become a band, and for that we are very thankful.”
