Welsh NWOBHM act TRAITORS GATE guitarist Andy D’Urso sadly lost his battle with cancer earlier in April. Our condolences to his bandmates, his family, and the legion of fans across the globe. We open this edition of the playlist with their track Edge of Destruction.
Speaking of NWOBHM, DIAMOND HEAD’s Brian Tatler celebrated his birthday, so we have added the classic Am I Evil? to the playlist.
Nicoletta Rosellini from KALIDIA & WALK IN DARKNESS celebrated her birthday this past week, we have included a track from the recently re-recorded version of KALDIA’s Lie’s Device album.
Both Emma Elvaston and Clement Botz from BENEATH MY SINS had birthdays earlier this week so we have included a track from their first album Valkyries of Modern Times.
Alina Lesnik from ONCE celebrated her birthday so we have included The Hour of Eden’s Fall to the playlist.
Joey Jordison formerly of SLIPKNOT & MURDERDOLLS fame celebrated his birthday so we have turned back the clock and included the classic track Purity in the playlist.
THE CURE’s Robert Smith also celebrated his birthday recently so have included a classic track of theirs.
FAITH NO MORE bassist Billy Gould celebrated his birthday. Ashes to Ashes has been included to this edition of the playlist.
Ex-DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy celebrated his birthday in April too so have included a song from the Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory album.
The original Spaceman Ace Frehley celebrated his birthday, his version of New York Groove from the KISS solo album of 1978 is featured within.
Album anniversaries for PAPA ROACH’s Infest which turned 21 years old, and BLACK SABBATH’s Heaven and Hell album turned 41 this month, a track from each has been selected.
This past fortnight has also seen new releases from WEDNESDAY 13, SECRET RULE, TEMPLE BALLS, DIE APOKALPYTISCHEN REITER, TIMO TOLKKI’S AVALON, VENGEANT, and WE ARE THE CATALYST.
Legendary music composer lyricist, producer and playwright Jim Steinman recently passed away, we’ve included his well renowned PANDORA’S BOX track (covered by the likes of both CELENE DION and MEAT LOAF) It’s All Coming Back to Me Now. Our condolences to his family, friends, and fans around the world.
