Single Review: Eden’s Curse – The Great Pretender

With the busy happenings of this weekend, I was able to sit down and listen to the new EDEN’S CURSE single ‘The Great Pretender’. This is the second single from their upcoming album ‘Cardinal’ due for release via AFM Records on 14th October 2016.

EDEN’S CURSE are a multi-national melodic metal quintet that have over the past several years have been making more than a name for themselves in the melodic metal/hard rock community. They have four albums under their belts, a great live presence and have even received high praise from IRON MAIDEN legend Bruce Dickinson and not one but two members of DREAM THEATER.

Anyways onto the single; this is the second they have released. ‘The Great Pretender’ grabs you by the balls and eats them for breakfast; the first few seconds of that huge sounding riff with tunes from the new keymaster Christian ‘Chrism’ Pulkkinen and the strong riffs from guitar maestro Thorsten ‘TK’ Koehne. These two elements do more than get the heart racing and blows you away.

It showcases the immaculate talent and power of this quintet; the infusion of memorable keyboard melodies, pounding basslines, thunderous drums, mighty guitar work and remarkable vocals all work together in harmony to create this belter. One that would sound great at an open air festival or stadium.

Overall verdict? I have already listened to this track four times in the past ten minutes; in other words this track is incredible.
